new Assessment Literacy Project The KSDE Assessment Literacy Project includes 21 different modules designed to enhance the assessment literacy of educators in an online, interactive format that can be used individually or in groups. Module topics range from AYP and Assessments to Validity.
These modules can be accessed simply by clicking on the download link next to each module. Each module may be completed on its own or you may want to follow a sequence. It is up to you which modules you want to learn about.

Child and Adult Care Food Program The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federal program that provides reimbursement for healthful meals and snacks served to children and adults. Because CACFP participants’ nutritional needs are supported on a daily basis, the program plays a vital role in improving the quality of day care and making it more affordable for families.

State Pre-Kindergarten Program This program provides a quality early childhood educational opportunity for four year old at-risk children to prepare them to be successful in school. There are multiple criteria to qualify for the program. In addition to the educational program, children receive services such as counseling, health, transportation and nutrition services.

Kansas Children's Cabinet & Trust Fund

The Kansas Children's Cabinet has been directed by the statute to undertake these four overarching responsibilities:

  1. Advising the Governor and the legislature regarding the uses of the moneys credited to the Children's Initiatives Fund;
  2. Evaluating programs which utilize Children's Initiatives Fund moneys; 3. Assisting the Governor in developing and implementing a coordinated, comprehensive delivery system to serve children and families of Kansas; 4. Kansas Department of Health and Environment Infant-Toddler Services (ITS) is a comprehensive, statewide system of community-based, family-centered early intervention services for young children, ages 0-3, with disabilities and their families. Kansas Migrant Family Education Program Kansas Migrant Education Program is a program designed to break the cycle of poverty and improve the literacy of migrant families through a unified program of family literacy services. These services are defined in law as early childhood education, adult basic education or English Language instruction, and parenting education. Projects provide a number of services and strategies to help parents and children meet their educational goals and to support parents in their role as their child’s first teacher. Services are provided to migrant agricultural families that qualify for the MEP.

Parents as Teachers PAT is a primary prevention program. It is designed to maximize children's overall development during the first three years of life, thus laying the foundation for school success and minimizing developmental problems that might interfere with learning. PAT is designed to serve ALL parents-from single, teenage mothers to two-parent, well-educated families.
